Five Things To Do in Davao

Last week was my first time to visit the bustling city of Davao, an hour and a half plane ride south of Manila. And here are five things I have experienced in Davao that I would always recommend to friends:

 1) Sunbathe at Samal Island

I like Samal island much better than Panglao island in Bohol. From its horizon you can see the outline of the tallest peak in the Philippines, Mt. Apo. And the water is clear. The sand is pure and fine.

At Chema's By The Sea, every room is designed like a private sanctuary

2) Stay at Chema's By The Sea Resort

And if you plan to stay overnight at Samal island, you might want to stay in this private and charming resort called "Chema's By The Sea". Every room has a charming interior. And I would just love to stay all day in their day bed right outside every room. I recommend that you bring your own food in the resort. As there are not much choices in there in terms of food.

3) Indulge at Blugre's Durian Ice-Blended Coffee

Durian's bitter aftertaste blends so well in this coffee concoction of this Davao's version of Starbucks called Blugre. This really is a must try!

4) Buy Sweets at Lola Abon's Place

Their Durian ice cream is so delectable. I can't get enough of it. Also try their durian and langka yema. This place is heaven for people with sweet tooth and who do not mind the funky smell of Durian.

5) Enjoy Nature at Eden

The Eden Nature park is about one kilometer above sea level and is a well-organized man-made forest. It boasts of different parks that showcases the flora and culture of Mindanao. Try their buffet and enjoy their home-grown organic choices of fresh vegetables.
